New toys

So I got some new toys this past week or so. First up a Fitbit Surge which I love so far.

Second are another pair of Nano 3's. I already have them in black and s pair of 4's but these were more than half off and in such a fun color.

I'm mostly posting this to see how blogging from my phone works but either way these are my fun new toys.

The Kool-aid, so yeah I drank it...

So this morning I went to my first ever CrossFit class at CrossFit En Fuego

I knew I would love it before I even went. I've been stalking other people who Cross-fit for a long time and when I need motivation I have been known to spend way to much time on CrossFitgirls

So this morning I woke up and set out to get signed up for the first of three required ignition courses to get all new Cross fitters familiar with how things work and how to do the movements with proper form.

I was immediately impressed with their box, I don't have much personal experience but I do know what a box should and shouldn't look like. I met Peter and his wife Jen and they were both super helpful and made me feel at home before I even signed the waiver and handed over my credit card.

Day 1 included

a basic warm up followed by learning the basics of:

-a few different squats- air, front- and back
-how to do assisted pull ups
-push ups

then I did a 500 meter row

and then my first WOD for time

-front squats
-pull-ups with rings
-sit-ups
-100 m run

x 3

I finished in around 8:50

I was hooked before the my WOD even started and I can't wait to go back tomorrow at 4pm to get my second ignition course knocked out.

Weekly Weigh-in 9/10/14...

Well it's that time of the week again and we have no change, I didn't even take a picture. It was my birthday last week and well I ate everything in sight. I know next week will be better as I get back in to the groove of school and marathon training.

I feel like I set stuff up and plan to go on a schedule and then give up when I don't follow it exactly, so now I'm going to try something new. I'm going to follow the weekly weigh-in but I'm just going to post my feelings as I go through this semester. This is my blog and I should update it with how I'm feeling whenever I want or can (not that anyone cares so why not, right?).

I need to keep focused on the big picture and make progress where I can but enjoy life and learn to like me for who I am now not who I wish I were or could be.

Ok enough rambling, I have a pile of schoolwork to do.

I'll check in soon.

Edited to add:
Apparently theBerry knew what I needed to see this morning. I grabbed a juice and sat down to get some work done and the first picture on DaMo is this.

Weekly weigh-in 9/3/14...

Today I'm starting a new weekly weigh-in.

Although the number on the scale is about 5 pounds inflated due to a few extra drinks and bad food choices over the last new days, it is what it is and I will work my way down from here.

And so it begins.....again!!

I plan on tracking my food and activity on the following sites-

Food- MyFitnessPal
Training- DailyMile - going to start using DM again as of today :)
Activity- Fitbit

I also plan on taking full body progress pics soon and then every few weeks in order to track non scale progress.

Space Coast Marathon 2014...

So what do you do when you only have one semester of your undergraduate degree left?? Run a marathon 2 weeks before graduation of course!!

I was able to get a discounted bib for the full marathon and since I have been somewhat marathon training with Diego for a few months (he is running Chicago in 6 weeks) I figured it would be a fun challenge.

This marathon will actually serve a few purposes-

-First, I always love a challenge and since it's been almost 2 years since I ran my first marathon I figure it's time to try again. I'm also going to need a lot of running in my life to survive this last semester.

-Second, I have a secret goal in mind that requires I drop some weight and get into shape, so training for Space Coast will help keep me focused on training consistently.

-Finally, I'm hoping to use training for and running the marathon along with losing weight, surviving school, and not abandoning the evil ones at Grandmas as an extra credit project for my Issues in Sport class.

I plan on posting as follows starting this week-

  • Sunday- weekly plan
  • Monday- weekly recap
  • Wednesday- weekly weigh-in
  • Friday- recap of my school

If all goes as planned in-
< 7 weeks I will be at or below 170 pounds.
< 13 weeks I will own the awesome medal you see below.
< 15 weeks I will be a USF graduate.

2014 Space Coast Marathon medal

Here is the remaining weeks of my training plan, I plan on just switching long run days around where necessary.
